The President of the Dominican Republic chooses to remove the decree of the Bávaro International Airport. In a surprising turn of events, authorities in Bavaro, Punta Cana, have made the extraordinary decision to close the local airport. This surprise revelation has placed both visitors and locals in a state of confusion and disorder as they sprint to make alternate travel plans.
The cancellation of the airport has sent shockwaves through the tourist sector, with tour operators, motels, and local businesses all facing the enormous task of handling the inflow of stranded passengers. The unexpected interruption has pushed tourists to quickly reschedule their travel arrangements, resulting in an increase in demand for ground transportation and other logistics services.
Many say there is no reason to cancel the airport. In fact, many say that it has no justification and only brings us complications. Jairon Severino believes that closing the airport has no economic advantages. According to him, closing this airport disrupts the development of the entire area and jeopardizes the country’s ability to ensure air connectivity for the more than 10 million visitors who visit the nation annually, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Dominicans who would not have the gateway they once had. Severino points out that there are no economic considerations because the capital is private and guaranteed.
